Blood Bank

Blood Bank

Blood banking is the process that takes place in the Laboratory to make sure that donated blood or blood products are safe before they are used in blood transfusions and other medical procedures.
The blood bank at Owaisi Hospital and Research Center always believes strongly in serving the humanity especially to those in crisis. The blood bank of Owaisi Hospital consist of medical officers and technical staff that work  with dedication and commitment.

Donated blood is processed and preserved as per the guidelines of blood banking using the advanced technical equipment.  Blood is centrifuged immediately after receiving, to separate into its many components like red blood cells, platelets and plasma. White blood cells are removed from the blood to mitigate the reaction in the recipient.

Blood is screened to check for diseases such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV and West Nile Virus. If any of the tests are positive, the donor will be notified and the blood will not be used. During the testing stage, the blood is also typed for ABO groups and Rh factor. Once the blood is screened and processed, it is stored up to 42 days. We ensure that we have safe, reliable blood supply for patients in need.
